The tennis of the Tarragona Tennis Club is in luck. A player trained in our country and lifelong member, David Jordà , has achieved the most important milestone of his professional career by proclaiming himself champion of the Bosphorus Challenger ATP held in Istanbul .
At 31 years old, the Tarragona native has culminated a spectacular week of competition in this Challenger 75 category tournament —the second most important level on the ATP circuit—, defeating Bosnian Andrej Nedic in the grand final by a 6-4 double.
This triumph is not just another victory: it represents the first Challenger ATP title of his career , a leap in quality that consolidates him within international professional tennis.
A perfect week
The road to the title has not been easy. Jordà has overcome high-level rivals, demonstrating solidity, competitiveness and great maturity on the court. Before the final, he defeated players such as Hynek Barton in the semifinals, Nicolás Sánchez in the quarterfinals or Denis Yevseyev in the round of 16, among others.
The final, played at the Istanbul Tennis Training Center, lasted 1 hour and 44 minutes, and demonstrated the great form of the Tarragona player, capable of maintaining control of the match against a rival who arrived as the top seed.
A notable jump in the world rankings
Thanks to the points achieved with this title, Jordà will experience a significant rise in the ATP rankings, reaching around position 255 in the world , the best record of his career to date.
