05/05/2023
The youth and international tennis competition returns to the Cala Romana facilities. This year celebrates its fifth edition and will have players from more than 20 different nationalities competing.
In the men's competition the players have an approximate world ranking around position 500, while the average drops in the women's side to position 300. The big attraction of the 2023 edition will be the player of the house, Martina Genís , who is currently among the top 100 players in the world and enters the competition as a favourite.
Up to nine more players from the club will be part of the competition thanks to the invitations received by the organization itself. In the preliminary phase we will see in action Álvaro Romeu, Christian Santos and Izan Bofarull in men's and Sara Corrio, Victoria Calle, Sofia Albiac and Louise Muller in women's. Adriana Pujol and Álvaro Tormo will compete in the main draw, in addition to Genís.
This year the club seeks to regain excellence in all aspects of the competition, one of the main objectives is to do the best possible work, as a team and aspire to move up again, says Antonio Poveda, who will be the director of the Red Cup BMW Oliva Motor competition and that this week also plays in the WTA Catalonia Open tournament.
As always, the test will have a male and female category in both singles and doubles. The preliminary phase will come into play during the morning of Sunday and will last until Monday. The main draw competition will start from Tuesday.
