THE RED CUP BMW OLIVA MOTOR GETS INTO PLAY ON THE COURTS OF THE TARRAGONA TENNIS CLUB

Throughout this week, the Tarragona Tennis Club is hosting the 3rd edition of the BMW Oliva Motor Red Cup, the test of the world youth tennis circuit that will host 130 players up to the age of 18 until Sunday 13 June. from 30 countries around the world and from continents as diverse as Europe, America and Asia.
The preliminary phase began today, Sunday 6 June, with the men's and women's teams, with 32 participants each and the presence of up to 10 tennis players from the region. The four boys and girls who win the first three rounds will advance to the final tables of this tournament, marked by restrictions and anti-COVID measures. All matches will be free.
The final phase of this BMW Oliva Motor Red Cup will take place from Wednesday 9 June. There will be two individual teams of 32 participants, both male and female, whose leaders will be the Korean Gerard Campana (number 128 in the junior world ranking) and the Spanish Carolina Gómez ( nº 225), winner of the second edition of the Tarragona test held last year.
Among those registered in the final phase are the players of the host club Íñigo Villacampa, Marc Boada, Anna Ortiz and Marina Sáez (they won their right to the pre - Red cup among tennis players of the club's competition school). Iker Uribarrens ( CTS Cunit) is also already classified.
The doubles finals will take place on Saturday 12 June (5pm) and on Sunday 13 the two singles finals (from 10.00 am the women's and then the men's).
The last edition of this Red Cup of the Tarragona Tennis Club was won by the aforementioned Carolina Gómez and Xavi Matas ; and in the first edition, in 2019, Max Alcalá and Victòria Jiménez, who soon became the number 1 junior world champion.
