AN EXCEPTIONAL LEVEL AT THE SPAIN CHAMPIONSHIP FOR VETERAN TEAMS FROM AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITIES

As you already know, during these days, the Tarragona Tennis Club hosted the Spanish Mapfre Tennis Championship for Veteran Teams from Autonomous Communities on the clay courts. A competition where the best senior players from each territory have demonstrated their level.

The event took place from Thursday 19 September to Sunday 22, where Catalonia and Madrid distributed the champions and runners-up trophies. As representatives of the province of Tarragona, Miquel Puigdevall, Álex López, David Cortés and Magda Gual have played.

In the men's category, it was those from the capital who proclaimed themselves champions after a more than complicated elimination round. In the women's category, the other way around, where the Catalans beat the Madrid women in a grand final. Both modalities were decided in the doubles.

We remember that the format of the competition was: a +45 individual category match, a +55, and a +65. In addition, a doubles match was played to decide the winner. In the event of a tie, a 'Super Tie-Break' decided the tie.

In addition, the Tarragona Tennis Club was awarded, for having hosted this important competition. Nando Huidobro, member of the Board of Directors and First Vice President, collected the award.

We also want to highlight the performance of Miquel Puigdevall, player and member of Club Tennis Tarragona, and Álex Lópex, ex-player and ex-coach. Both, national runners-up with the Catalan team.
