ALEJANDRO MARCO, SUB-CHAMPION OF CATALONIA

Alejandro Marco, player of Club Tennis Tarragona, is proclaimed runner-up of the Catalan Championship in the Children's A category, held at the facilities of Els Gorchs Tennis Club.

After also achieving a creditable second place in the Under-14 Godó, contested at our facilities during the month of January, Alejandro has shown that this year he is going all out.

To reach the final of the tournament, which took place yesterday, Sunday, May 19, he had to overcome up to 5 rounds previously.

1st round: 6-3 6-1 vs. Marc Castellví

2nd round: 4-6 6-0 6-1 vs. Daniel Cullere

Round of 16: 6-3 6-4 vs. Mark Pelegrin

Quarter-finals: 6-3 6-4 vs. Jinhong Yang

Semifinals: 6-0 7-6 (4) vs. Luca Daraban

End: 2-6 3-6 vs. Eduard Khaikov

Special mention to our coach, Pedro Gutiérrez, for accompanying Alejandro throughout the competition, as well as to the other players who competed in the tournament: Susana Pujol, Pol Mas, Valeria Gimeno, Marc Castellví, Carla Merán, Marcel Pons, Nayara Sanjuan, Enric Montero, Lian López, Javier Pujol, Jaume Montero, Iván Villas and Lluis García.

Both Alejandro Marco and Susana Pujol have gained direct access to the Spanish Championship.
