AITOR TOMÀS AND MARTA PAULINO WIN THE TARRAGONA ULTRA TRAIL MARATHON

Both took the win at the longest distance of the weekend. Diego Moreno and Martina Fuster would win the half marathon, while Marc Llebaria and Natàlia Bru would win the 10km trail mode

The seventh edition of the Ultra Trail Tarragona , organized once again by the Tarragona Tennis Club, welcomed nearly 350 runners in a spring weekend of wind and good temperatures.

An edition that arrived with novelties in its program, three distances in competition, the longest the 45k marathon, the 22k half marathon and the 10 kilometer trail to enjoy the surroundings of the Tarragona capital. It also served to give light to two new modes: the UTTGN Genuine , an inclusive and supportive race for people with disabilities, and the Mini UTTGN aimed at the little ones in the house; as well as to give visibility to the Association "If you can, I too. Epilepsy"

The longest modality of the UTTGN was contested during the Saturday day. With a route of 45km and 1,034m of positive gradient that allowed you to visit towns in the region such as El Catllar and Vilabella, crown peaks as characteristic as Sant Simplici and cross charming beaches such as Platja Llarga.

Aitor Tomàs was the fastest of the day, imposing himself with authority in front of his rivals with a time of 3 hours, 31 minutes and 32 seconds, while Lluís Aparicio and Miguel Ángel Peñalver shared the second and third positions entering together after 3:49:12.

The women's category was more contested, where Marta Paulino and Katherine J. Chaplin offered us an exciting fight. Paulino was stronger in the last leg of the test and rose to victory after 4 hours, 48 ​​minutes and 10 seconds. Katherine came in second in 5:00:20, while Covi Robles rounded out the women's podium with 5:30:59.

Lots of excitement in the rest of the distances

The rest of the races in the program took place on Sunday. In the Cala Romana Trail, 22km D+500m, Diego Moreno won with a time of 1:46:00, ahead of Josselin Cabaret (1:48:52) and Luca Bonifaccio (1:49:03). More clear was the female victory of Martina Fuster (1.59.38), second Sandra Bonachí (2.10.16) and Susana Castan (2.17.53) closing the podium.

The Tarraco Trail, 10km and D+250m, delighted lovers of fast and explosive races. Marc Llebaria (46:40) beat Andreu Sancho (48:18) and Jordi Ferré (48:35), while Natàlia Bru from CN Tàrraco took the women's victory (1:06:04) ahead of Marta Riba (1: 06:44) and Gemma Arasa (1:08:23).
