THE CITY OF TARRAGONA WILL HAVE ITS TENNIS TEAM IN FIRST ONE MORE SEASON

These have been some very special days with our first men’s tennis team. This year 2021 we have again competed in the Spanish team championship, we have done so in the highest category, in a special post-pandemic edition. A total of 10 clubs have taken part in this state competition held at the Cercle Sabadellès 1856.
Real Club de Tenis Barcelona 1899, CT Barcino, Cercle Sabadellès 1856, Club de Tenis Chamartin , Club Atletico Montemar , Real Murcia Club de Tenis 1919, Real Club de Polo, Club de Tenis Valencia , Real Zaragoza Club de Tenis and Club Tennis Tarragona.
On this occasion we formed a very Tarragona team, the home team, David Jordà, the active reference player in the province Edu Esteve and the most important player in the history of the province Albert Montañés . Accompanied by two good active rackets like those of Viktor Galovic and Marco Bortoli . In addition, two classics of the entity, Sergio Gutiérrez and Pablo Martin, were part of the team. Marc Mas as sub-captain and Àlex López as captain were responsible for the management of the team.
In the first round of the competition we beat a young CT Barcino of great quality. The experience and ease of ours to play the doubles, made us take a significant final victory by 4/3. In this way we achieved the goal of permanence. In the quarterfinals we fell against the top seed (1), a Real Murcia Tennis Club 1919 that ended as runner-up by losing the final against CT Valencia.
It should be noted that a group of members traveled to Sabadell by coach to cheer on the team and that the young players of the school participated in a training clinic with some of the first team players. The city of Tarragona will have its tennis team in the top category again next year. Only 8 clubs will be part of this competition in 2022 which will return to its usual format.
