'La Champions' of the pandemic ends with Ramon Palau and Santi Rius as champions

The Champions is the tennis competition in the men's doubles category par excellence of the Tarragona Tennis Club. A large group of veteran players gather at the facilities of Cala Romana three days a week to play their matches for a whole season with the aim of continuing to enjoy their sport on the courts.
This edition has been special, a pandemic hit us and forced the competition to stop for a few weeks. Once we returned to the activity the protection measures were extreme, the classic morning draw in the adult room was moved outside and the mask was part of the 'outfit' until the start of the match. Special mention for Jordi Grau who was the virtual champion until before the break and had to leave the competition due to injury, a lot of strength in the recovery teammate.
The year 2020 will go down in history with Ramon Palau and Santi Rius as champions. They won the final played at the Club's central court by 9/4 against Jesús Gálvez and Josep Vives. The match for the 3rd and 4th place could not be played due to the loss of one of the players on the day of the match and will be played on a new future date.
A total of 48 members have taken part in this competition, the awards ceremony and the fraternity lunch to close the circle are pending. The new season will start again from January 2021.
