Everything is ready at the Tarragona Tennis Club for the BMW Oliva Motor Red Cup

The official presentation of the tournament took place today on the club's central court

The Tarragona Tennis Club has presented this afternoon the BMW Oliva Motor Red Cup, a test of the world junior tennis circuit that will be held from September 27 to October 4 at the Tarragona club's facilities.

120 players from around the world, aged between 18 and 18, will compete in this tournament that will bring together the youngest world promises of this sport.

The preliminary phase will be played in tables of 32 entrants, and the final table will also have the same number of male and female tennis players. The final registration and the series leaders will be known in a few days, although they will all end up being players with an international ranking.

Today it has been made public the names of four players from the club who will have one of the 24 wild cards available to the organization: they will be Pol del Castillo, Marc Boada, Iñigo Villacampa and Anna Ortiz. The rest will be announced on September 18.

During the presentation, which took place on the central track of the CTT, the leaders highlighted the high level of competition and the strict rules of the protocols for the Covid-19 that will follow at all times the organization in order to ensure the safety and health of participants, fans and partners of the entity.

In this sense, the president of the Tarragona Tennis Club, Pere Lluís Bergadà, stressed that the event will be the first of the junior world circuit that will perform quick tests to all participants.
 
It will be thanks to an agreement with Laboratorio Eldine, one of the sponsors of the tournament together with Asisa, Rabat Zaida, Clínica Dental Anton Massagué and Cocacola in addition to the aforementioned BMW Oliva Motor that gives its name to the competition.

The presentation included, in addition to Pere Lluís Bergadà, the Sports Delegate of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Joan Plana; by the Tarragona Provincial Council, Juanjo Garcia; and the manager of the BMW Oliva Motor group, David Garcia, as well as the sports councilor of Tarragona City Council, Mari López. Everyone has appreciated the club’s effort to organize a test of this level.

The Secretary General of Sport, Gerard Figueras, also took part in the video presentation; the president of the Catalan Tennis Federation, Jordi Tamayo; and the Andorran Victoria Jiménez, winner of the Red Cup at the CTT in 2019 in what was her first victory in an ITF tournament and who at the beginning of the year was ranked number 1 in the junior world . This year he will not be able to be in Tarragona as he competes in the junior Roland Garros, which coincides in dates. In boys the champion in the first edition of the Red Cup was Max Alcalà.
